31 days of terror: the borrower

John mcnaughton followed his brutal thriller "henry portrait of a serial killer" with this demented 90's sci fi horror flick. The plot is a mishmash of "superman","the thing" and "they live" set in chicago during the grunge scene and the film takes its aesthetic from the music but it also has that mcnaughton gloom about it and an underlining jet black humour.

The cast are competent and play it straight for the most part. The special effects are schlocky but good and lookout for the stand out seen involving a dog.On the hole extremely entertaining defiantly worth a look. 6/10

  1. That sounds awesome, I saw Henry for the first time last year, again during the October challenge, it was the best movie by far.
