Four Horsemen (2012)

No nonsense documentary about the state of the world economy, divided into 4 parts, featuring interviews with "23 international thinkers, government advisors and Wall Street money-men." I can't stress enough how much i got out of it, check it out, you'll learn something!

The Wolf of Wall Street [2013] // Dir: Martin Scorsese

One last review...

This is, without a doubt, the best film from Martin Scorsese since Goodfellas. He just received his eleventh DGA nomination for directing this and he thoroughly deserves it.

It's extremely over the top (in a good way), relentlessly funny throughout, full of energy and has some wonderful performances from the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio (a career best role), Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey. Some might be annoyed at the three hour length but it never dragged for me.

Do not miss. Watch it right now.

Broadchurch [2013]

A really excellent series focusing on the aftermath of the death of a young boy in a small town in England. Great performances from all involved, definitely one to check out. Featured on a lot of end of year lists, both in Europe and the States.

American Hustle [2013] // Dir: David O. Russell

It's a very enjoyable film with some solid performances, a good selection of music from the era and an awful lot of shit hair. I wouldn't rate it as highly as a lot of critics have though. There isn't too much depth to it overall. It's quite similar in ways to Goodfellas (embarrassingly so I have to say) and Boogie Nights but doesn't come close to either for me. Definitely one to watch nonetheless.
